Why is a ventilated cavity important?

Modified on Wed, 24 Jun at 3:27 PM

The ventilated cavity is a key part of a rainscreen façade system. It creates a capillary break between the cladding and the backing wall, allowing any water that penetrates the outer layer to drain away. The cavity also promotes airflow, helping moisture to evaporate and reducing the risk of condensation and dampness within the wall construction.

Ventilation at the top and bottom of the cavity improves air circulation, enhancing the durability and long-term performance of the wall assembly.
