Movement joints are generally only required where there is a change in substrate type (e.g. masonry to timber or concrete to SFS), where structural deflection exceeds L/360 or 15mm (whichever is greater), or where the substrate movement joint must continue through the EWI system. Brick slip systems may also require movement joints. Any movement joint requirements should be confirmed by the project structural engineer.
